Blogspot or WordPress.com? January 29, 2008

I am supposed to sign up a free blog for a person.  The person only has basic knowledge of the internet and hence, I want to find the easiest blogging platform for him.

Between WordPress.com and Blogspot, I think I shall introduce WordPress.com to him.  I feel the dashboard is much easier to use than Blogspot.  I know he won’t be meddling with the html and stuffs in future because basically what he wants is a place to share his thoughts online.

So, is there any other much easier blogging platform than Blogspot or WordPress.com?  And which do you think is easier to manage?  WordPress or Blogspot?

Free WordPress.com rocks because January 28, 2008

1) I don’t need to bother about updates and upgrades. There is nothing I hate than upgrading 20 blogs using ftp. It is a bitch to deactivate plugins, ftp the new files, wait for the uploading, upgrade and then, slowly activate the plugins.

2) I don’t need to sweat over broken themes

3) I don’t need to pay

4) I don’t have the urge to change themes every few weeks because there are only so many themes to choose from. Still, free WordPress now rocks because there are so many themes. Unlike 3 years ago when they only have seven boring themes.

5) I can blog or not. No one cares.

6) It has uber cool stats built in.

Taking free WordPress.com for a ride January 25, 2008

After almost three years, I finally recall I do have a blog at WordPress.com.  I am glad that I use a working email and am able to retrive my password.

Phew…

I must say that WordPress.com is almost like our own hosted WordPress.Org.  We can upload video, slideshows and photos.  The best it is free!

WordPress gives us 3GB of space and that a lot of space.  You can buy more by upgrading, you know?
